Mami Madness

It's my interim off today so to burn carbs I did some cleaning while re-arranging our furnitures to bring back the old look of our room. Love the fresh air! I guess I'm just bored so instead of slacking off I did other stuff to make the most of my rest day. I had my nails done, did some laundry and ironing too, how's that?

Ma Mon Luk's infamous
Mami and Siopao
Yesterday, my twin sister and I along with our elder sister and teenage niece heard mass in Quiapo church. We ate lunch at Ma Mon Luk Restaurant just a few minutes away from the church. My sister said this restaurant is our dad's favorite place and that he used to take us there when we were kids because they have the best Mami and Siopao in town. Our dad also loves their Lomi. My twin and I were only five years old back then according to my sister so just imagine how old this restaurant is now it brings back the memories of Quiapo which is my birthplace. I don't recall the taste of their mami and siopao anymore since I was too young to remember but upon tasting it I realized that there's nothing like their mami and siopao it's worth coming back to. Ma Mon Luk's mami and siopao have its distinct taste that you won't find in any other Chinese restaurants, It's flavorful and tasty. A bowl of mami is enough to keep you full for a day. Their siopao is soft and fluffy and definitely way better than Chowking's siopao. I hope that Ma Mon Luk's legacy will pass on from one generation to the next because it takes a real good flavor to withstand the tough competition out there.

Time for some movie

I've seen the most sought after Twilight saga "Eclipse" along with my sister earlier  because it's my rest day while it's her split off. It wasn't super but not so bad I think, compared to "New Moon" it gave more emphasis to Bella's love triangle with Jacob and Edward. Other characters were also given a brief attention like Jasper and Rosalie's story how they changed from mortals to immortals. The character of "Victoria" used to be portrayed by actress Rachelle Lefevre now it was by Bryce Dallas Howard. I thought Bryce is not apt to play the character of Victoria because of her sweet innocent looking face. She has to be someone "fierced" looking, just saying. "Eclipse" is more action packed I liked all chasing and fighting more specifically when the new born vampires led by Victoria fought with the Cullens and the wolves in the woods, love 'em wolves! They're real cute and furry I don't find them scary at all yet still way too hot in their human form, whoa.

The movie went on for two and a half hours we skipped lunch we're starving after we headed to "Mexicali" for a late lunch. I had a plateful of grilled steak burrito made up of grilled meat, vegetables with fresh salsa, refried beans, mexican rice, cheese and sour cream wrapped in a fresh hand-rolled in a soft flour tortilla plus tortilla chips and salsa (yummy). For dessert we ordered this weird-looking but heavenly tasting spikey butterscotch pie oh boy it tastes so darn good.

I'm still watchful of my diet but since it's my "cheat day" I think it's okay to indulge on food once in a while. I don't want to deprive myself totally or I'll end up depressed for starving myself and I don't want that. After our late lunch we checked out the newly opened American clothing retail chain Forever 21. According to my research, they're throughout the USA, Canada, some parts of Asia and soon in the UK and Ireland offering fashion and accessories for young women and men. The chain, originally known as Fashion 21, was founded in Los Angeles, California in 1984 by a South Korean couple Dong-Won Chang and Jin Sook. I thought they have a wide variety of real chic stuff in there but I didn't see anything that suits my personality I find their stuff a little too girly for my taste so we left.

Our last stop is the supermarket. We bought nutritious stuff for our diet. We prefer to ride an FX since we just have 1 grocery bag each anyway or it might take us forever to get a cab.

Thank God we're home.
