Another year has gone by, and January is almost over too. So much can happen in a single year, and simply having made it through 2025 is already something to be deeply grateful for.
The year was filled with challenges: flood corruption in the government that led to many lives lost as well as natural calamities—some truly frightening. Earthquakes, in particular, remain the scariest of all, like a thief that arrives without warning. Living through moments like these makes you realize just how fragile and unpredictable life can be.
On a more personal note, 2025 was an especially tough year for our family. We lost two of our senior fur babies: Atari, our 13-year-old cat, in June, and Yumi, our 14-year-old dog, who unexpectedly followed in July. Losing a pet feels no different from losing a dear family member. They had been with us for over a decade, through thick and thin, quietly sharing our lives and routines.
The grief was heavy, but with time, we learned to accept that they were never truly ours forever—only lent to us for a season. We chose to have them cremated, which was a first for our family. Surprisingly, it made things more manageable and helped ease the grieving process, allowing us to honor them in a meaningful way.
Despite everything, life went on, and we made it through 2025. The holidays were celebrated as usual, and even amid loss and uncertainty, there was still so much to be thankful for.
Now comes a new year and with it, new hopes. I pray that this year brings luck, good health, and prosperity—that it will be a fruitful one. There is always something to be grateful for, in both the little things and the big ones.
